I can not open Nextcloud desktop application in my Macbook pro M1.
I got this:
“Nextcloud-2.6.5.20200710-legacy.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.
That’s a very old file. Current would be version 3.9.1, take a look at nextcloud.com
Which version of MacOS are you running?
@rakekniven
hello,
i have the same problem:
“Nextcloud-2.6.5.20200710-legacy.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
my version of mac (11.7.10) is too old for the current version of nextcloud.
does anybody have a solution?
You already found the answer. For legacy versions of Mac OS you need to install an older client. See Index of /desktop/releases/Mac/Installer for installation files.
thanks for you reply.
i did but it didn’t work.
if i open the app it closes right after displaying the message that i need to update the app.
well, i randomly tried some versions from 2.6.5 on and at version 3.6 it worked. i’ll try newer versions later on but for now my problem is solved. the version at the nextcloud download page (Nextcloud-2.6.5.20200710-legacy) however didn’t work for me, don’t know if i am the only one but so you know.
