Broken desktop download links?

Hello,

while installing the latest Nextcloud Desktop Client for macOS, I noticed that some of the official download links appeared to be broken.

At the time of my installation:

  • https://docs.nextcloud.com/desktop/latest returned HTTP 404.
  • The desktop download page redirected to a non-working page.
  • I was only able to install the client after manually locating the installer on the official download server.

The installer itself (Nextcloud-33.0.6.pkg) is valid and Apple notarized, so this does not appear to be an installer issue.

Later, I noticed that some pages became available again, so I am not sure whether this was a temporary infrastructure problem or whether there is still a broken redirect somewhere.

Has anyone else observed this recently?

If this is a known documentation or website issue, I would be happy to open a GitHub issue.

Thanks!

GitHub issue for reference:

@hsjoos welcome to the wonderful world of the community forum for NC.

where did you get this URL from? it definitly wrong. it rather should be download.nextcloud.com/desktop/releases or such

.. you´r right ! .. there I found the correct version for me and could successfully install it on my intel based Mac mini. But anyway I would show in following screenshot where I got the misleading 404 download link. Maybe it should be deleted from the official Nextcloud download page.

that should link to the manuals as the text says.

and you’re right the correct link should be Desktop Client — Nextcloud 35 User Manual

Ok! .. the link is wrong, but my expectations have also been wrong, because I was looking for the desktop client app download and not the documentation. As said I found the correct one `Nextcloud-33.0.6.pkg` and installed it successfully. So that was my mistake as well - sorry :upside_down_face: - but thanks for your quick response. I will correct this in my GitHub issue as well.
