Broken App Duplicate Finder - NC Error 502

Hello,

Nextcloud App Duplicate Finder seems to be broken in my snap deployment.

Nextcloud became unavailable with Front Page error asking for update / upgrade the said app. Clicking the on page the update button is generating following error

Exception: Database error when running migration 0009Date20240116000000 for app duplicatefinder
An exception occurred while executing a query: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1071 Specified key was too long; max key length is 3072 bytes
Update failed

There is no way to visit the admin panel to manually disable the app. Nextcloud is stuck at this front-page warning and asking to upgrade the app to proceed.

My first attempt to get back to the admin panel was to refresh the snap installation but that completely broke access with Error 502.

Fortunately, with CLI access nextcloud.occ app:disable {appname} command worked and was able to disable the faulty app to get back into admin panel.

Anyone facing issue with this app Duplicate file Finder or is it happening with my installation only?

I find this app useful as it helps all users to find, identify and remove duplicate files to save a lot of disk space.

Installation Details

Platform → Hyper-V VM
OS → Ubuntu 24 LTS
NC → Snap Nextcloud (Latest) 30.0.4snap1

Thanks.

The same problem with my installation of NC 28.0.14. I removed Duplicate Finder and all its settings and when I tried to install (1.5.0) the same problem exists. Regards, Marcin

PS. MySQL 8.0.39 - maybe it is important.

Duplicate Finder had a similar problem a few years back and has been disabled on my Nextcloud instance since then. Needs to be tested on Snap I guess.

Hi,

As stated in a communication in the official github page, Snap Dev’s don’t have human or technical resources to test individual non core apps

Refer here for further details → Update Nextcloud to 30.0.4 · Issue #2997 · nextcloud-snap/nextcloud-snap · GitHub

Thanks.
