Bool(false) This version of Nextcloud is not compatible with Firefox

Dear all,
my nextcloud system is hosted by the German provider Strato.
Please delete everything above when creating your topic and provide the following:
Nextcloud: 13.0.0
Operating System: SunOS aklathep 5.10 Generic_150401-49 i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris
Apache something
PHP-Version: 7.0.27

After upgrading from 12.0.0 to 13.0.0 I receive the message that Firefox is not compatible with Nextcloud. (see the subject).
I tried this from varios devices: On iOS devices the login page has been rendered correctly.

On macOs with the most recent version of Firefox (58.02) I receive

Bool(false) This version of Nextcloud is not compatible with Firefox
Use another browser.

With Safari and Chrome everything is fine.

I will paste some logentries from nextcloud a bit later. May be some has a solution for this issue.

Best regards

Matthias

Hi,

A friend had a similar strange behavior when he tried to install Addons and they were complaining that the Firefox version was too low.
We figured out that for some reason the version that Firefox reports was overwritten in the config. Maybe you can check that.

  • open a new tab
  • enter about:config in the address bar
  • confirm the warning message
  • in the search bar enter: general.useragent
  • some entries should be listed now
  • search for any entry that provides something that looks like a version string or version number
  • set this entry to default if it contains a wrong version number

Hopefully that is already it. Good luck.

Hi Schmu,
thank you for your immediate answer.

I find three entries there, neither shows up any version infos.

Any other ideas?

Best regards

Matthias

What if your start with a blank new firefox profile?

Hi,
in addition:
I tested the configuration with several different Firefox engins.

Mac OS (as reported) - with issue
Windows (Version 17.05) - with issue
Ubuntu (FF V 55.02) - with issue
iOS (Current Version) - without issue

cheers

Matthias

Hi all,
I found the reason for the issue.

I just activated the app

InitialCheck

without reading the Readme. This App does an initial - example - check of firefox browsers and disables their access.

Sorry for disturbing you.

This one is solved. Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards

Matthias
