Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 32.0.5
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • TrueNAS v25.04.2.6
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
    • replace me
  • Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
    • Cloudflare
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • replace me
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • No
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • I have had this problem sporatically since I configured the auto backup.
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • replace me
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • Yes, I am using Cloudflare.

Summary of the issue you are facing:

I have set up NextCloud with Memories on my TrueNAS server. I have set up my wife’s phone for her to use OpenCamera to take the pictures that she uses for her eBay reselling business. And I configured it so that OpenCamera drops the pictures in DCIM/OpenCamera. The NextCloud mobile app on herphone monitors that folder and moves (I have it delete the pictures after it copies it so that her phone memory does not fill up with eBay pictures) the files to a folder on the NAS that is configured as external storage for Memories. This auto backup does work, but every few days it stops working. Specifically, it will move some pictures, but not all of them. And there sems to be no way to force it to move the remaining pictures. At that point the nly way that we can get them off of her phone is to email them to herself. How can I correct this problem? What might I have misconfigured?

UPDATE:

I have a little additional information. This happened again and this time I noticed that there was an error message from NextCloud that indicated something about not having the proper permissions to write to the specified folder. This came up after having moved most of the pictures from the phone to the folder. About 60 or 70 pictures were moved, but 2 pictures were left ad the only way that we could move those pictures was by connecting the phone to a computer via USB-C. Does anyone have any advice on how to resolve this periodic issue?

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.
