Is there any way to safely remove the old file versions and/or clean the trash bin for one specific user?

Per default, trashbin and file_versions are managed automatically. One thing you could try is to reduce the user quota just slightly over the size of his files. Then the background job should clean out the trashbin and old versions.

That’s not a solution, may be ok for a few users with not too much activity but not really a good way to control the amount of space wasted in old versions (for example I have ten versions of 750Mb file and probably two would be enough).
One of the lacks of OC is that we must control the use of the space manually, might be NC include any feature or app to manage that in a better way or more options per user (number of revisions, file expirations…).
