Android Nextcloud sync: Can I store synced files in regular folders instead of the Nextcloud app folder?

Is it possible to sync folders on Android in a way that it works like on a desktop? I would like to use a normal folder instead of a separate Nextcloud app folder (I don’t know the proper name for this, but it is marked in red in screenshot 1). My main use case is syncing the Keepass database. However, when I used folders inside the Nextcloud app folder, database stopped opening correctly after few hours(see screenshot 2). This could be just a random bug with keepassdroid, but I’ve never encountered this issue while using normal folder.

The second thing I want to sync is an Obsidian vault. It’s not as important as Keepass, but I’d like to be able to check my notes on my phone sometimes. However, I can’t even open this folder in the app. The only folders I can open are the ones on my phone.

If this behavior is impossible, is it possible to create a symlink on Android to the Documents folder so I can read the most recent version of the file without manually copying it? If there are no symlinks on android is there some other workaround to get the behavior i want?

No that would not work because of Android “protecting ;-)” internal file system,
but how about a Volla phone ( or maybe some other Linux phone solution )
kind of think, I guess there it would be such thing possible, that is my future solution/project too.

Volla phone because they integrate Android the best at current stage I guess

(By protecting I mean they are telling you, you do not own the phone really)

Synchronize the KeyPass password database and open it by tap on the kdbx file in your Nextcloud app.
KeyPass-Droid automatically will start and request your credentials to open the database.

Would it be possible to do it other custom roams other then Volla OS? I’m mainly interested in GrapheneOS since this is what I’m currently using.

Opening the database from the file explorer worked (I forgot to mention that in the original post), but it broke randomly after a few hours. The issue was probably with the keepassdroid app, not the Nextcloud app folder. Removing the database from the app and adding it again fixed the issue.

* I found this in keepassdroid issue tracker, probably related to this: Database not found · Issue #516 · bpellin/keepassdroid · GitHub

I didn’t encounter this issue with a database stored in a normal folder. That’s why I assumed it was an issue with the Nextcloud app folder.

no, not at all, Android would not do that, Linux-Phones could
