Android Client Default AutoUpload Folder is "InstantUpload" Unchangeable

Hello Devs and Community,

I am using Nextcloud since it was Owncloud.

When AutoUpload was first introduced The root Folder for AutoUploading Stuff (Pictures, Screenshots, Videos, etc.) from an android Phone was always fixed to “InstantUpload” and then there is a subfolder which was automatically named after the folder Name in the Android Phone (for example: Camera, Screenshots, “WhatsApp Images”, …).
I then created custom folders an manually linked them to the Folder I wanted.

I have a few smartPhones all linked to the same account and all use automatically only “InstantUpload”.
More and more Apps Use a lot of Folders where eg. Whatsapp (Stickers, Images, Videos, etc.) and I more and more get confused cause i cannot define the root Folder to the Device name or under root Folder to the device Name so everytime something new pops up I have to spend a lot of work just for getting this working on the phones.

I hoped since there is a lot of development there will be an option to change/set the DefaultUpload Folder at least for each android client (eg. phone) manually to ease a little bit.
So I am still frustrated. New Version of Nextcloud and a lot of new features but the core stuff which would give a real advantage is still untouched.

So can enlist that to enhance that? This will only get worse and there will be more and more trouble and it could be so easy fixed. Just by adding an option to change “the Default Folder for AutoUpload”

Thanks.

nobody has any workaround or nobody cares?

Edit the upload-profile f.ex. “Camera” by tap on the three dots right of te blue cloud and select “Configure”
In the next dialog tap on “Remote folder” and select the folder, where to upload and then on “Save”.
Repeat it with all folders to be stored in other folders.

Hi @Mornsgrans ,

thanks for clarification. I already did that a lot but it gets more and more frustrating to do that on all folders for upload on all devices (which are using the same nextcloud user) and its very time intensive.
It would be fine too if you can point me to a “configuration” script where i can some kind of automate this manual work.

Thanks a lot.

I do not know, whether it can be realized via a script.

But I have the same problem with my configuration, because I also do not use the default folder structure. So I have to configure approx. 15 folders manually every time, I replace my device or remove and re-install Nextcloud app.

Yes, i know this problem . That is why I asked in the forum. As i mentioned earlier there are more and more folders popping up for one app to make things easier but with me using nextcloud it only gets worse.

I hoped there were some progress but it seems it stayed like that for the past 10 years

It seems to be an Enterprise-feature:

Okay, no idea how expensive that is but if that is only available for enterprises.

Change something trivial like default folder from /InstantUpload to something else then its really a pity. :frowning:
@devnull

@Mornsgrans Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
