An error occured while opening a folder Operation canceled

Hello,

I am new to nextcloud, that I want to use to synchronize my files over a couple of computers.
My server is running on a RPI3 (using the NextCloudPi docker image) and it uses an external local storage (that is actually a NTFS disk mounted on the RPI and in the docker).

On one computer I was able to synchronize all my files without any issue (using the Windows Client), which make me think that the server is working just fine.
But on another computer I have one folder that keeps failing with the same error. I tried both the windows and the linux desktop client on this computer and both are failing with the same error:
An error occured while opening a folder Operation canceled

Do you have any hint on what could be the issue ?

Thanks in advance,
Loic

@ Loic_Quertenmont Any luck finding solution?

I have same here. Wonder if there is any limitation on file number for desktop client.
In my case over half a million files. Seen nothing but RED ERROR lines from nextcloud

Same error here.
Best Regards
Massimo

Same error here. Pretty disappointed there is no resolution from May 2019

I´ve the same error and it seems that nextcloud can´t handle a specific file count at one folder?

I´ve the same error.

I’ve got the same error.
Just appears on a client which has more files synced (of two clients).

Does nobody have a solution for that? I need one, urgently
2.6.4 hast the same problem, also moving back to older versions.

Same issue here, anyone has an idea?
I see that someone else had is set in D:/Nextcloud, I know it’s silly but could that be the problem? I have it setup there too on my PC.
I can’t sync on my Mac either so I don’t think this is it, but we never know :stuck_out_tongue:
Nextcloud 18.0.3
Windows client 2.6.4stable-Win64

I’ve just started to get the same error in the last couple of days. It had been working fine previously on several computers, all running Linux Mint XFCE and syncing to paid for storage on /e/

The only thing I know that’s changed is I moved about some folders with a lot of files in, does anyone know how to cure this as I don’t know if I can trust it now. I’ve tried removing the folder sync and adding it again but it just sits on the same error so I don’t know if it’s actually uploading anything or which files might be being skipped.

I did not solve it, but I managed to keep it working partially.
First unsync all folders and wait until they aren’t appearing in your file system anymore. Then just choose the folders which you really need, because after a threshold of files (?) the problem comes again. So I’m just limiting the amount of synced folders.

I have this issue. never had this before and been using NC for years… will try to search the nets more but interesting how no solution to this yet seems to be a long-lasting one. I’m ubuntu nextcloud-client app. Feels like a permission issue on the folder somehow… feels like the user (local machine user) doesn’t have permission to save, or nextcloud-app doesn’t have permission to do what it needs…

Maybe you/somebody could open an issue on github?

It seems going to settings-network and chosing “without proxy” works, at least temporarilly
