Hi, I just updated the Nextcloud client on Windows, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting this…
Right off the bat, the “Sync Now” button has completely disappeared. The client is quite slow to respond, about 30% of it isn’t translated into my language (French), and personally, I much preferred the old interface—this new one feels odd and not very fluid.
I think the previous version was much clearer and more stable.
I hope this gets fixed quickly and that I’m not the only one who really doesn’t like this redesign.
I wasn’t prepared for this at all—I even restarted my Windows, thinking something went wrong or didn’t update properly.
I saw it and even liked it, but this conversation isn’t complete ! It looks like you’re annoyed by this update too man… I just want to share my opinion on this new topic
What do you mean the conversation isn’t complete? Multiple issues were already raised in the other thread, and as far as I can tell, the only new thing you added here was the incomplete translation. Everything else had already been mentioned one way or another in the other thread.
And why not do that in the the existing thread, instead of just venting your general dissatisfaction here, which neither the forum users nor the devs can do anything meaningful with anyway?
It would be much more helpful to offer specific suggestions for improvements to the design or to report bugs and performance issues, etc., by opening bug reports on GitHub with relevant details, logs, or reproducible steps.
I mean, if the feedback is simply, “I much preferred the old interface; this new one feels odd and not very fluid,” what is anyone supposed to do with that?
Yeah, I can understand the frustration and the desire to express it. I just think it’s more productive to use existing threads for that purpose. You can upvote existing posts and add your own explanations. It’s also easier for the developers to keep track of things that way.
The same goes for GitHub. Check what issues already exist before opening new ones and upvote the ones that are important to you. Add comments if you have additional information or ideas on how to solve a specific problem. Don’t add one-line comments like “I have the same problem”, just upvote the issue if you can’t contribute any new insights.
In my opinion, this is a more effective way to actually help improve the new client.
In the meantime, the best thing you can probably do is downgrade and monitor the issues until the most serious ones have been fixed.
Nice to have hopes, if you see problems, make sure they are on the bug tracker, so someone can work on them that one of the next versions will work for you again.
Due to the feedback, I won’t directly update to the 34-branch and rather wait a bit…
