Actually I didn’t get a response then. Years later I am still hopeless about that. Now I am trying to utilize separate group folders for our separate companies. But I don’t really understand how advanced permissions should really work.
Bear with me on this very simple logic: I have one group folder. I have assigned only one group to this folder. I have activated advanced permissions and I granted only “read” permission to this group. I created a new user assigned to this one group and this group only. Now here is how I set this group folder permission by the admin:
As you see, there is only one group allowed and only read permission is granted. And here is the new user’s screen:
As you see it is granted everything!? as the admin, I grant only read permission to the main group folder, but the group users have all the permissions nevertheless. Isn’t that very simple to manage? What am I missing here? Years after year people are asking about this advanced permissions and I wonder if really no one is using this facility?
