The issue you are facing:

While in a Call, I would like to be able to view other Conversations in the Nextcloud Talk app, but attempting to do so currently requires you to either leave the Call, or as a workaround, open Talk in another browser or device. It would be nice to be able to pop the Call out into a separate window and then look at other conversations in the main window. Is such a thing possible? Am I missing a setting or button that allows me to do this?

Discord is able to do this, so it is not a limitation of Electron apps.

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): N

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Start or join a call in a conversation

  2. Attempt to view another conversation

  3. Get told you have to leave the call to view another conversation

How will you share camera, microphone and speakers to the several conversations?

I don’t want to share the camera etc. to the other conversations, I would just like to be able to read them, and to write messages to them, whilst in a call - i.e., while involved in a call in Conversation A, I would also like to be able to read and send text messages in Conversation B (not join another Call).

if you’re using a browser you can open another tab or another browser… you can also install the talk app.

That’s exactly what I am doing as a workaround - using the app for the main client, where the video call is, and then using a browser to use other conversations. It’s just it would be nice to be able to do it all in the one app, and not have to resort to workarounds.

I think you can Command+Click on another conversation to open another window. It’s not officially supported that way, but works

Thanks, that is definitely better than the open-in-a-browser workaround.

The best solution for me looks to be to use this Command+Click/middle-click to open the conversation the call is in, and initiate/join in that pop-up window, and use the main window for everything else.

Thanks @SysKeeper!
