I have an old iPad mini with iOS 12.5.7 and I tried to use NextCloud on it, but I couldn’t, as the NextCloud login no longer works with any web browser on iOS 12.5.7.
Recently, I found a way to work around this, and I want to share it to those who are or were facing the same problem.
First, you’ll need to install the NextCloud app. If it’s the first time you’re downloading it, the App Store won’t let you because the latest version is not longer compatible with the device. To work around this, download the app on a newer iOS device first. Then go back to your old device and try to downloading it again. This time, it will display a message saying that your device is not longer supported but it will download the last version that was compatible.
Next, open your web browser and go to your security settings to create a new app password. Don’t close the tab, we’re going to use the QR that gets generated.
Finally, open the NextCloud app on your old iOS device. Instead of logging in with the server URL, touch the QR code icon and scan the QR we generated earlier. And voilĂ !
