Ability to Print Notes or export to pdf - Seems like important priority

I created a markdown note with images today. Wanted to export it to PDF. Could not do.

This should be an assumed key / priority feature. Then tried to share it with my collective.

Neither in NOTES, nor copying a Note with images, does Nextcloud have native ability to print its notes. Nobody wants to rely on the browser printing features.

Nextcloud Notes without such a key feature seems to suggest Nextcloud is not yet ready for prime-time deployment amongst efficient groups.

Hi @cgiakmoz,

Did you read this:

I think I’ll have to improve this solution a little to make it work with the newest version of the file actions app. I haven’t maintained it for a long time. but the principle remains the same.

hth.

Much and good luck,

Open any Note in Files. They’re just markdown files. You can print from their just fine (i.e. without all the menu bars/etc).

Nobody wants to rely on the browser printing features.

As long as support is implemented properly (which it is in Files), I don’t see why not.

P.S. For Notes specifically, see here: Overhaul Printing · Issue #936 · nextcloud/notes · GitHub

Sorry Josh. That’s incorrect. The only thing that prints out is text.

If you add some images to your *.MD file, … Copy to clipboard and paste into the middle of text., then the thing will not print … Or will not print properly.

I think Firefox prints it quite well (see screenshots below)

That being said, Markdown was of course never intended to be a pre-press tool, as you have no control over the fonts used, the exact layout, spacing etc, as that is up to the clients rendering it.

So if your goal is to create actual documents with a specific layout, fonts, etc. that look exactly the same in print as they do on screen, you should use an actual word processor or a desktop publishing software.
