The SMTP server itself needs to be configured to accept mails without authentication. The Nextcloud mail app cannot bypass security-rules of the mailserver.

This question concerns sending emails from within NC with the admin email address specified in the NC basic settings. There’s something I don’t understand about the email settings in NC. I have my own domain asdf dot com hosted on lkjh dot com. I set up an email address like user@asfd.com. Now, in NC, in the basic settings > email server, I can just type in user@asfd.com as the from-address, type in the server address and that seems all I have to do (in fact, it works quite well).
