In the end, I removed the warning message by removing or commenting out the following in my nextcloud nginix config…

#error_page 403 /core/templates/403.php;
#error_page 404 /core/templates/404.php;

but I am not sure if that is a good idea… the 404.php code and 403.php code had some redirects in the that might be important…

This worked for me, and only commenting error page config of 404 will be OK because by doing this the /index.php/.well-known/webfinger could return a JSON but not 404.
