Exclude/ignore specific folder from sync

Is it possible to exclude the folder bar/ from synchronization, without excluding the folder foo/bar?

Let’s say I have multiple folders with the name bar, but I only need to exclude the top folder, without excluding folders with the same name deeper in hierarchy.

There is an article about ignoring the files, but it is pretty basic and doesn’t give many examples.

In short words: Ignoring of folders is not possible.
