Criticism of this forum

I appreciate your words and as you see we are definitely looking for improvements. And yes the goal would be to answer and solve topics in a timely manner. If it doesn’t happen likely to the lack of resources or because the topic was lost in the list of new issues. I’m following many tags/categories and my “new” list often scores at 100/week - easy to miss some topics. We always try to attract more active members and maybe at some point this will happen. at the moment most work is done by maybe 10 frequent users and I can say for me it is really disappointing I don’t find time for “interesting” complex issues because I’m busy answering the same answers all the time (but I do just avoid unanswered topics in “my” areas)

And yes Nextcloud is a very complex application and requires the knowledge of many different technologies. Sometimes it feels better to ask simple answer and get the answer right away but this would not teach you anything. Especially as the beginner you have to spend more time learning the system and stuff related to it. looking for a config.php is a good example - you could learn how to search a Linux file system for a specific file, read docs (always recommended). Especially reading the docs is important as you learn where to find them and how they are structured and on the way you often find interesting things not directly related to you current topic but giving you deeper insights in some areas. same applies to forum topics - even this are not solved you often learn tools and methods how to analyze specific issues and what might be important for a specific problem.

I’m writing generic articles like 101 so beginners could learn and understand the concepts without direct focus on the specific technology. Once you know how and why the things work as they do it’s much easier to adopt this knowledge to a specific tool.

Maybe many “veterans” are blind to a lack of details somewhere just because they know it already - as a beginner you have different view, maybe you need more details or different wording to find the right information. And we would be happy you would remain active and add content and answer questions from this more fresh perspective. a good starting point would be I would like logs wiki tutorial feel free to add you thoughts about the logging.
