Wrong Passwords App Version After Nextcloud 32 Upgrade

After upgrading to latest Nextcloud v30, then v31, then v32.0.1, the Passwords app was disabled.

In the Apps page, it’s showing “Version 2025.10.20” and “Server version 31 or lower is required.”

Why is there no upgrade option in the Apps page?

Also, why am I getting this error?

./occ app:update passwords
passwords is up-to-date or no updates could be found

Probably because people are working on it voluntarily in their spare time (which takes time)?

I encountered the same issue, but I re-enabled the Passwords app manually and it works hasslefree like it did before the upgrade…

What? How did that happen?

The current version of the Passwords app for NC 32 is LSR 2025.10.10. This is due to a bug in NC 32 that causes the dependency injection to crash when loading some internal PHP classes. The LSR version is an automated backport to a PHP version where these classes didn’t exist so it doesn’t trigger the issue.

Usually the app can be downgraded by simply replacing the folder in “apps“ or “custom_appps“ and running the maintenance command or by uninstalling it and re-installing it from the store.

LSR 2025.10.10 doesn’t work in Nextcloud 32. It forces an extra upgrade on the home page. The 2025.10.20 also doesn’t work in Nextcloud 32.

I’m going to delete Nextcloud and work on restoring v30 from backup.

But you (and all the other folks) was warned. At least if you would have beforhand taken a look into the Admin Overview page before starting any Updates:

It clearly states there is no compatible Version for Passman available for NC 32.0.1.
So everybody was free to decide to forego Passman or wait with Update until a compatioble Version ist availabe for Passman

The OP was talking about “Passwords” and not about “Passman”…

It does not matter. It shows all apps there for that are no compatible Version available. In my case its Passman. The Point is: look over there before make any updates.

That, of course, is true.

That’s not even close to true

“Update

A new version is available: Nextcloud 32.0.1
All apps have a compatible version for this Nextcloud version available.”

This was resolved by deleting Nextcloud and restoring v30 from backups.

@robc you are wrong.

If you have 30. somewhat this means for all apps are compatible versions availabe for 31. You need then to install first 31 and look there again if for all Apps a compatible version for 32 is also availabe or not. Then decide what you wanna do.

I’m not talking about v30. The Passwords app broke when upgrading from v31 to v32 with the app advsertised as compatible with v32. Please stop derailing this thread with other apps and versions that have nothing to do with this problem.

Quite same here :

  • upgrade from 31 to 32.0.1, after seeing “All apps have a compatible version”,
  • enabling `passwords` app
  • Different effect : `Page not found` when opening the app’s page.

Not sure if I add the same issue, but I solved it this way :

  • enable passwords app (disabled by updater.php)
  • php occ maintenance:repair : somme work was not done during NC upgrade because of the desabling of the app

You’re right — after replacing the folder and running the maintenance command, everything went back to normal.

for me that solution did not work. without passwords app I lost access to 99% of my accounts

Do you have any Backup of your passwords in passwords app?

I don’t use passwords app but Passman. Passman includes an import/export function. I used the export function regulary for backups. It offers *.csv and *.json. If you have such backup as well you can at least make the passwords visible and usable again as a workaround until passwords app will be running again on your server.

I know its not a solution for the main problem, but even better then to have no access to eMails-Accounts, Internet-shops, etc.

Same here… => ‘Page not found’

Did you try the php occ maintenance:repairafter enabling passwords app ?

Hello,
for me the same, page not found!
I dont know what to do to fix it..
