Whiteboard app for Android?

I looked around the Github and open questions here, but I couldn’t find any way to access a frontend or standard installation for Whiteboard without needing to build the project from source.

Does this exist?

Hi @jordandsullivan

The frontend is the Nextcloud Whiteboard app, which you can install like any other Nextcloud app.

You will also need to install the Whiteboard server backend, which you can either install using Node.js and npm, or you can use the pre-built Docker image: GitHub - nextcloud/whiteboard: Create & collaborate on an infinite canvas!

But maybe I misunderstood your question and you want to elaborate a bit on what exactly you mean by “accessing a front-end or default installation for Whiteboard” and what this has to do with Android?

nextcloud-all-in-one has it ouf the box: just enable it on the admin page.

I mean is there an Android app that I can just install from an app store, like with NextCloud Talk? Or even on desktop, is there a basic install wizard available? If not, are these things on the roadmap?

I want to be able to use this tool to collaborate with non-developers.

Ah, OK. As far as I know, there is no dedicated mobile app for the Nextcloud Whiteboard, and I don’t know if anyone is developing one, or at least I couldn’t find such a project. It does work in mobile browsers though.

In my opinion, it would probably make the most sense to integrate this functionality into the existing Nextcloud mobile apps, similar to the way Nextcloud Office is integrated. Maybe you can open a feature request here: https://github.com/nextcloud/android/issues

Not to revive this from the dead… but is there anyway to use whiteboard at all on mobile without opening Nextcloud in browser? Right now you can’t even click the whiteboard files on the android app. It just says “No app set up to handle this file type”
