WebDav Remote Access - Kodi (Error)

Hi guys, hope somebody can help me with my WebDav / Kodi issues.

Setup:

RaspberryPi 3B running NextcloudPi v 1.15.3
LAN Connection to Router with Ports 80 & 443 open
No-IP DDNS

The issue you are facing:

I try to connect a (remote) Kodi instance via WebDav
Following settings in Kodi did not work:

Protocol = WebDav server (HTTPS)
Server address = mydomain.ddns.net
Remote path = remote.php/webdav/
Port = 443
Username = user / Password = password

Generated link = davs://user:password@mydomain.ddns.net:443/remote.php/webdav/

Error message: The connection to the network location couldn't be established. This could be due to the network not being connected. Would you like to add it anyway?

I also tried the same settings for WebDav (HTTP) with Port 80. Same result.

When i try to access the WebDav from the same network via the iOs App “WebDAV Navigator” with the following settings, i can access Nextcloud just fine:

Server = https://mydomain.ddns.net/remote.php/webdav/

So WebDav in general is working. I just cannot access via Kodi.

Any ideas?

This does actually work because I have it working on mine, but I’m offsite at the moment and can’t check my Kodi setup.

Do you use Kodi v18?
I found a related discussion here

Kodi seems to have problems with SSL certificates in v18.
I installed Kodi v17.6 and WebDav seems to work just fine there.

Anyway no solution for Kodi v18 so far.

Okay, I’m looking at mine… It seems the same. davs://fqdn:443/remote.php/webdav/Movies/

I have it mapped directly to a group folder on Nextcloud. I’m running Nextcloud 16.0.3 with Apache reverse proxy and Kodi 18.3.

The only other thing that comes to mind is I use TOTP and so I had to generate an app password for it.

Seems like the self-signed certificate was the problem.
To fix this simply obtain a certificate from Letsencrypt.
