I am researching how to view the activity of downloaded files in a group folder. I have not found any relevant information on this subject and I do not know if there is already a thread discussing this topic.
I need to have a group folder active (to be able to control each user’s permissions) and when I use the “Activity” and “Activity for shared downloads” applications, it only shows me basic activity (modifications, uploads, deletions, etc.). Since the folder is a group folder and is not shared in the normal way, it does not record downloads because it is not actually a shared folder.
I have Nextcloud 24.0.12.
I may be missing something.
If you need more information to help me solve this, I will provide whatever you ask for.
What do you mean by “due to the infrastructure you have”? If your infrastructure prevents you from keeping your software up to date, you should consider changing it so that updates become possible. Running old, unsupported versions is not really a viable option, as it puts your instance and your data at risk, especially if the instance is accessible from the Internet.
As far as I know, the latest version also doesn’t show downloads from group folders in the Activities app, so that is not the reason why you should update. The main reason to update is security!
Also, you generally shouldn’t expect support for end of life versions. Most people keep their instances up to date, so they won’t be able to reproduce any issues you may encounter. And of course, no bug fixes or new features will be added to unsupported versions either. But as I said, that’s not the immediate problem here.
You’re right, i should update, but since is not the main point of my problem, i’ll keep looking for some kind of repository that could show the downloads in-app.
