## The Basics

- Nextcloud Server version _(e.g., 29.x.x)_:
  - e.g. `30.0.5`

- Operating system and version _(e.g., Ubuntu 24.04)_:
  - `Archlinux`

- Web server and version _(e.g, Apache 2.4.25)_:
  - `Apache` under `docker`

- Reverse proxy and version \_(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
  - `Apache`

- PHP version _(e.g, 8.3)_:
  - `8.2.27`

- Installation method _(e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)_
  - Docker community image

- Are you using CloudfIare, mod\_security, or similar? _(Yes / No)_
  - No

### Summary of the issue you are facing:

I am running multiple (small) NV instances on the same docker host. I enabled and set up the ApiApp to run ExApps and played a bit with some. I use the docker proxy service to connect to docker with reduced permissions of the NC containers.

I have seen that the ExApps are starting in the docker global namespace, e.g. `nc_app_talk_bot_ai` or `nc_app_translate2`.

I fear that if multiple NC instances are running ApiApp to call ExApps, this might cause a name clash. Ideally, I would expect to be able to define a _namespace_ (aka a prefix like `nc_app_`) per instance in the settings.

However, I am unsure if this will even be a problem: Are the version of the docker container running somehow tailored down to the NC PHP part or are these unrelated? Can I reuse the containers from the different NC instances?

### Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

1. Install 2 instances A and B on the same docker host
2. Install/enable ApiApp on both and install DSP allowing to connect the host docker daemon
3. Install an ExApp on A (e.g. `translate2`)

How will this affect instance B?
Can instance B use `translate2` ExApp as well?
Can I install the ExApp in B if not?
Might there be a crash on either instance if versions are not converging?

Can the DSP container be shared?

I’m currently doing the first steps with ExApps and I’ve more or less the same question.

I’ve multiple NC instances on separate VMs and setup a docker proxy service on another additional VM. Connecting one NC instance works so far. But I’m alo not sure whether I can connect further NC instances to that docker proxy.
It could also get more complicated if different settings are chosen (like with or without gpu support).

I opened an [issue](https://github.com/nextcloud/docker-socket-proxy/issues/45) on GitHub. Let’s see what will be the outcome.
