Users List Not In Order

Nextcloud version (eg, 12.0.2): 15.0.8
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 17.04): Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS

Hi all,

I hope this will be a very basic question. After one of our NextCloud updates (12 to 13 I think), I noticed that the Users list no longer seems to be sorted logically. The first half of the list seems to be sorted alphabetically with one bunch of users, and then the second half is also sorted alphabetically with a second group of users. But the users are all in the same ‘group’, and I can’t find any notable differences between them that would explain the odd sorting behavior.

I assumed it was some kind of bug that would be worked out in future versions, but it seems like it’s here to stay. Is this intended behavior? Is there some way to re-order the list?

Check to see if the difference is due to capitalisation of usernames.

In our installation Users are sorted by username “case insensitive” in main list of all users.

But within a Group they are sorted by username “case SENSITIVE”.

THat might be your issue.
