Upload speed to Nextcloud very slow

Hello together

I have just started a Nextcloud 30.0.4 with apache2. These are the specs of my small server:

Operating System: Linux 6.1.0-28-cloud-amd64 x86_64

CPU: AMD EPYC-Milan Processor (4 threads)

Memory: 7.73 GB

I host my Nextcloud server at strato. I have around 250 MB/s between the strato machines. But from my home, I can upload a maximum of 1 mb/s via Nextcloud. When I upload via rsync, it’s up to 20 times faster. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Best regards, Johan

Nextcloud keeps track in the background of all changes within the filecache table, does locking, … that takes additional resources compared to native transfer speeds. Just as a rough number, you should get in the range of 30-50% of the max speed via rsync/SFTP. So from your factor 20, there should be quite some potential, the more you want, the harder it gets.

Upload how? Via the Web UI? Via one of the client apps?
