Getting help
In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.
Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:
- Official documentation (searchable and regularly updated)
- How to topics and FAQs
- Forum search
(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).
Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can. ![]()

Summary of the issue you are facing:
Installed nextcloud over a month ago, and was able to upload many files/folders. I’m using the collabora demo version to live edit documents and that works for all the existing files on nextcloud.
Today, I tried New → Upload files to upload a .docx and also an .xslx file and I repeatedly get the error “Unknown error during upload” and “Target folder does not exist anymore”. Not sure why because the target folder is right there.
Not sure if it’s related, but if i try to just create a new file on the server, it keeps telling me that file in storage has changed, and asks me to overwrite, discard etc.
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
-
New → upload files
-
choose my .docx or .xlsx file
-
click upload
