Hi, after the nextcloud update from 16.3. system icon (device&printer) disapeard, cant bring it to live again. And really sad: The behaviour of the explorer and some other progs, it scrolls imidiatelyto the top of the program ??? Thankfull for help
Thx rakekniven,
I had to explain how to pronounce my name tobias in Africa I always had something to drink.
I used to have the icon for Devices&Printers (Geräte&Drucker) on the right corner of the taskbar. Its gone and even in the optins to show system things on the taskbar. I tried to start and stop the explorer service, refresh the cache, tried to implement the icon via regestry - its gone ?
I start to search something in the explorer and scroll down, normal. Suddenly it jumps to the top. In the case of the explorer its not a big deal but i m working with cubase…
Oh i can just upload 2 pics. The first explorer pic showed the deep dive into subfolders, normal.
Im not one of the big brains here. I installed nextcloud to explore the possibilities of this piece of freedom, which is great! Thx!!!
You made my day!
To be honest, I can’t imagine any connection between the client installation/update and the behavior in your descriptions. The client has no influence on the system settings …
Did you update any other software that day?
Hi, I know, it sounds crazy. And no, no further updates. Nexcloud was doing its installation thing, stopped the explorer service and restart it -doesnt this service has to do with the task bar?. Thats all. I asked cause it makes no sense for me either. I will turn the PC back into the pre strange things aera these days.
It says it will try to restart the explorer. If things keep being strange or you are not sure, I’d try first to restart the computer and see if everything is back to normal.
So , after deinstalling the bahaviour of the explorer is normal again. Nextcloud install or mount the cloud container to the explorer and i guess that there happened something. I dont know exactly what happens to the cache with all the icon settings in it when nexcloud shuts down the explorer service. @rakekniven: So we have at leat one connection between the installation and the strange behaviour of the explorer. The icon in the task bar still isnt there and even in the options its not selectable anymore (pics ahead). It looks like nonsense but there is a connection. Just wanted to inform you, maybe other things are also possible via this door… Greetz!
From my understanding does the client add shelloverlay support to the windows explorer. That makes it possible to show the status icons at each file. And to do that you need to restart explorer or a reboot.
Want to inform you about the last steps. I deinstalled nextcloud from the PC. Explorer worked fine again, icon (devices+printer)) in taskbar is gone. I tried to go back with a system restore point, which is not possible. Nextcloud coudn´t be erased. Even if i erase all related things in the regedit and erased the nextcloud container, still not possibel to go back to the point before nextcloud installation… Thats my experince with it, i think its great but a wish i had installed it on a different PC. THX everbody Greetz!
Not sure how it currently works in Windows. But sometimes when you just installed a software, Windows creates a restore point and you can go back to this point. That is certainly no option, if you have installed the client a few weeks ago.
If you create such a point anytime you install a prog you can normaly go back as you have set one of these points, as i did. To desinstall nextcloud does not mean to get what you had before, win 10. WanTang!
