Unable to login to WebUI: Password field clearing on entry

I am having trouble with the WebUI. I am unable to login from the login page. Whenever I type anything in the password field, it is immediately cleared and I am unable to put in my password.

It gives me no error other than the password is required, but of course I am unable to enter it.

This problem stared up upgrading the server, however I am not sure which one since I upgraded multiple versions. I am currently on the lastest version (30.0.2).

I would appreciate any help in figuring this out.

Have you tried disabling scriptstoppers/adblockers from that page?

I have tried that and it had no affect. I should also say that I have already tried clearing cookies, different browser types (chrome, firefox) and none of these have changed it.

Then I suggest:

  • monitoring your browser inspector Console (and possibly Network) tabs while reproducing the problem
  • providing more details about your environment (you seem to have overlooked our support template). For example, are you using Cloudflare by chance?

As in a bunch of upgrades all at once? Any idea what major version you upgraded from?

Similar thing happened to me when upgrading from 29.0.9 to 30.0.2. I ended up having to clear all Nextcloud site data from my browser and do a hard refresh (ctrl-F5) to resolve it.

The same thing is happening to me right now. I disabled all chrome extensions. UNSUCCESSFUL. I reinstalled Chrome, it doesn’t work. I installed Firefox, it doesn’t work. I can only log in incognito in chrome. It’s strange… but it’s a problem.

Confirming same here as well.

Disabled Ad blocker, password manager - anything that interacts with the WebUI, still seems to be stuck. Also - incognito mode didn’t help.

Same issue on 29.0.12 and even after upgrading to 30.0.6. No Ad blocker. Stucked even on my smartphone, no matter the browser I use.
Any idea would be helpfull.

Had similar problem after upen it up to the internet

Since this ain’t readily reproducible and no one in this thread filled out the support template, we can only speculate.

Some thoughts:

  • Are you using Cloudflare?
  • Are you using NPM as your reverse proxy?
