$Temp folders are visible in document structure on web

Nextcloud 29 on Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS with Apache web server

This installation is about 2 weeks old.

In the web interface I often get a folder named $Temp showing up, usually inside a top folder, after doing some work on files in a child folder.

When I reinstalled a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a lot of these folders after uploading content to NC (drag and drop, because I like the wait).

I can easily delete $Temp folders, but they will eventually show up again after a while.

So how do I get rid of them permanently?

Thanks!

Are these folders located on External Storage or is the underlying Nextcloud data directory accessed by anything outside of Nextcloud?

Nextcloud is installed on a single machine. Files are synced between that and my work pc which is set up as a dual boot Fedora Workstation / Windows 11.

I also sync to my android phone (nearly forgot that).

So in essence, you can say that some files exist in a few different instances.

I have had quite a few installations over the past two years, but I don’t remember seeing this before.
