I’m, having trouble on videochats. Microphone and camera are not working. When I try to iniciate a call on Firefox I get the pop-up asking for permission on mic and cam, but then I get the message “Error while accessing microphone & camera” and all I get is a black square.
Nextcloud version (eg, 12.0.2): 16.0.1
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 17.04): Ubuntu 18.04
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): Apache 2.4
PHP version (eg, 7.1): 7.3
It works when I’m using a laptop (built-in camera), but not on a desktop (Windows or Linux).
And it works on others sites that require camera, like chatroulette for example.
The solution was, to reenable the camera in windows settings. Note: The camera was disabled by the user in the windows system settings.
Firefox and Chrome show an option to access the camera despite this system setting.
If the browser then tries to initialize the camera an exception is thrown “NotReadableError: Failed to allocate videosource”.
Maybe this problem can be mitigated by initialize the micro first?
