Talk, High-performance backend on truenas scale

I’ve spent many months trying to understand and get this server and Nextcloud all working. I only recently got there.

Now iv got a big red warning

No High-performance backend configured - Running Nextcloud Talk without the High-performance backend only scales for very small calls (max. 2-3 participants). Please set up the High-performance backend to ensure calls with multiple participants work seamlessly. For more details see the documentation :arrow_upper_right:.

Firstly i never have more than 2 people using “talk”.

But I really don’t want that big red warning constantly in the admin settings.

I have read and NOT understood pretty much any of the instructions here Quick install - Nextcloud Talk API documentation

Well, i kinda do but im to afraid to try.

I used to be assured I could re-install NC as it was on TrueNAS Core and all the settings & user files were in backed up datasets but now on Scale I’m not 100% sure I could recover if it all failed as some stuff is still in /mnt/.ix-apps which is not exposed to the GUI for snapshots.

I’m just not 100% sure.

I’m kinda hoping that there will be an easy way for me to remedy this that someone can point out for me?

@JackDinn yeah… that message is a little disconcerting. see fix(setupcheck): Downgrade setup check when warning opt-out is used by nickvergessen · Pull Request #14147 · nextcloud/spreed · GitHub

if you install HPB that message should disappear High Performance Backend for Talk on Nextcloud with Docker - #3

hmm, so wait for 30.0.5

Even then its only downgraded warning. I still dont like it.

I can use stylus to remove it but i really dont like to.

im just looking at what trying to create and setup this HPB would entail.

The first question is should i use the custom app setup for truenas scale or should i use the Dockge app that i am already somewhat familiar with as i use it for my arr’s/vpn/etc stack.

EDIT:-
Ok iv managed to get it all working, i use the truenass custom apps and built it in there.

It was not as bad i i thought it might have been

Thx all.
