Synchronization without deleting local files

Hi! I am pretty new to using Nextcloud and currently trying to set up auto-sync using the desktop client for Linux (Ubuntu 18.04).

My problem is the following: I would like to use Next-Cloud as a backup, that is only propagate changes from my local machine to Nextcloud, not vice-versa. Is this possible using the desktop client or do I need to get a little more advanced?

No it’s not possible. And it’s not the indended usecase of the Desktop client. I would recommend using something like rclone, if you want to do backups with Nextcloud as a storage backend. https://rclone.org/
