Subtasks not properly working in combination with Nextcloud Tasks and 2Do

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Subtasks not properly working (and shown) in combination with Nextcloud Tasks and 2Do - only Tasks created (and converted into “project”) in 2Do allow to create and see sub tasks properly both in NC Tasks and 2Do.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

I know that questions in combination with other products, here 2Do is not trivial to answer :slight_smile: … but …

I have successfully connected 2Do via “User Defined CalDAV” to Nextcloud Tasks - which works (mostly) :wink:

But I am struggling a bit with subtasks.

  1. When I create a new task in 2Do and convert this new task directly into a “project” there then I can add sub tasks to this 2Do “project task” and I can see theses sub tasks properly below that project task both in 2Do and in Nextcloud Tasks app - great.

And I can add new sub tasks within Nextcloud Tasks app which appear properly both in NC Tasks and 2Do.

Question: any idea what 2Do is doing in the task data when converting a task into a project ? What NC Tasks might not do ? I know this forum is not a 2Do form – but maybe someone has an idea :-).

  1. But when I create a new task in NC Tasks app there is nothing I can do to make it similar working like in #1 above.

2a. To be able to add sub tasks in 2Do I need to convert this NC Task into a “project” in 2Do – ok – then I can add sub tasks to this “project task” in 2Do - but in NC Tasks these sub tasks are not shown as sub tasks.

2b. Same on 2Do side - when adding a sub task in NC Task this sub task in not shown as sub task in 2Do.

So, in #2 case sub tasks are only shown properly in that app in which the sub task was created.

The only way for me to make sub tasks usable using 2Do together with Nextcloud Tasks is to create a new task in 2Do, convert it in 2Do into a project directly. From here I can use (and see sub tasks) proper both in 2Do and in NC Tasks.

Any idea why #1 works and #2 not ? And is this something within 2Do or within NC Tasks “to be improved” ??
