Static Application menu

I have tried to workaround my issue with the app “Custom Menu”. But this solves the issue only partially. My main problem is, that i hate it, how the menu reacts to mouse overs. For which reason, must the whole menu row be animated, when i hover a single icon? Cant this be static and only show the application name as title on hover? To have the menu on the left side and only show it, when click the menu button with “Custom Menu” is fine, but it only works on the desktop browser. If i use this App with a mobile browser, clicking/touching the menu button does nothing. It only reacts with a long press…

I’m not a designer, but almost all app launchers and launcher bars use some kind of animation or highlighting on mouseover. They do it to provide feedback and reassurance that something is happening while adding a sense of visual delight (which is obviously not working for you ) and personality to the interface . It’s about communicating with the user and providing feedback.

So I guess Nextcloud just wanted to do what most modern software does in some way — and personally, I like it.

For such apps, they are often designed by individual developers, and they do as they like and prefer and for their specific use case.

I agree partially, but changing the color would be more than enough. But changing the placement and changing it for all button, when i hover one of them is not really clever.

But anyway, i think, i should go the “Custom Menu” way and try to open a bug report there.
