State of app "User and Group SQL Backends"

Hello,

I’m using the app “User and Group SQL Backends” since I started with NextCloud.
Since v24 it says it is incompatible. However, it seems to work even with v30.
Is there any maintenance for this app, or is it possible to contact the authors?

Github lacks any recent activity: Activity · nextcloud/user_sql · GitHub I would definitely to look for a different auth backend. there is one more active fork Activity · rotdrop/user_sql · GitHub from one dev who worked on the original repo as well - but his last commits where not merged.

We tested our modifications of the source code of user_sql (based on the fork ht…tps://github.com/rotdrop/user_sql). In our testing we found that it still works reliably with newer Nextcloud versions (27+), and as such we would request that the compatibility of the app is updated to indicate it works for NC25-NC30. The code has been brought up-to-date with NC30 requirements. We also added an optional feature to the plugin that prevents issues if users that have shared files with other users are deleted in the SQL database (or marked as disabled), as the existing shared files will have issues due to uncertain ownership in newer Nextcloud versions.

The first step is to test and review this pull request. Normally it has to be done by someone different than the author.

There were two contributers in the last few patches. Not sure if any of them can release a new version. If you fancy this app, it is certainly worth creating a small community around these apps and support their development (even if you are not developer, you can help testing, documenting, translating, …).

I’m a noob on Github, but it seems to me there is no newer download.
Different auth backend: Gladly, but which one?
I have an established website with mysql based auth, for which nextcloud is an additional feature. I don’t want to force my users to two different logins.

Ah, I cloudily remember stumbling over this app already, but I dropped it for too complicated setup.
I will reconsider it, thank you for the clue.
