Trying to use
nextcloud.enable-https lets-encrypt from Nextcloud 12.04 via the current snap on a more or less fresh stock install of Ubuntu 16.04, but getting a timeout on the initial challenge every time. DNS and port forwarding seem to be fine as I can access locally and remotely via a self-signed cert, but to avoid annoying browser flags for the rest of my life I’d like to get a cert working properly through Let’s Encrypt.
I’ve seen a couple reports of similar issues, but no solutions. It’s hard to get at the details of the server setup via the snap, so having a hard time troubleshooting on my own what might be the problem.
Anybody gotten past this issue or have some insight? Let me know if there are specific logs I can supply to help. Thanks so much.
I’m curious if the issue is that the initial challenge tries to go to the http port, but enabling https automatically redirects all traffic to that port. Going to the url certbot is trying to hit gives me a 403, but maybe the permissions are different for the Let’s Encrypt certbot, again, it’s hard to dig into the specifics since I can’t see the details of the apache config in the snap setup, to my knowledge.
Btw - I’m following this guide from Digital Ocean, seeing the same report from today from another user on that thread. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-configure-nextcloud-on-ubuntu-16-04
Thanks in advance for any insight or ideas.
