[Solved] Couldn't connect to server and didn't get any error messages

[updated on 2020.4.17] Solution: uninstall 2.6.4 and re-install 2.6.0 or earlier version can solve the problem. There have been several issues reported on GitHub regarding this problem.

I downloaded the client 2.6.4 for Mac OS and installed it successfully. After I entered the server address and clicked Next, the client stucked, as shown below:

I didn’t get any error messages. Could someone help to check into this?
Thanks.

I tried re-install, but it didn’t work.

See https://docs.nextcloud.com/desktop/2.6/troubleshooting.html#log-files to get some more information from the logs.

After I opened NextCloud client I pressed F12 on my keyboard, but the Log Output window didn’t open.
p.s. I’m using Mac OS 10.14.

I am on 10.14 as well and it works here.

Please read the linked paragraph once more and try to get the logs using a terminal.

I got the log file using a terminal:

See your logs and cert errors.
Can you login into your cloud using your browser without warnings regarding your ssl cert?

There was a warning message regarding the SSL certificate when I login to my nextcloud account using my browser. I can still log in by ignoring the warning. However, I can login successfully with nextcloud client on my Windows PC, where the SSL cert warning also poped out.

So please do the following steps:

  1. Exit the client
  2. Remove the config file (if it exists). See https://docs.nextcloud.com/desktop/2.6/advancedusage.html?highlight=config#configuration-file
  3. Start again.
  4. If problem still exists, please file an issue at GitHub and provide all necessary information. See https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/

Still didn’t work. I will file an issue on GitHub.

Thanks a lot.
