"smbclient" is not installed -Error on hosting

Hi!
I uploaded it to my hosting using the web installer package. So I didn’t upload it to the server.

I get this error when i want to add external storage;

“smbclient” is not installed. “SMB/CIFS”, “SMB/CIFS with OC login”'" cannot be connected. Please contact your IT administrator for
setup.

I am using php 8.1, IONOS hosting(Basic hosting).
How can I fix this error?

Thank you from now.

Hello there,

welcome to the community of Nextcloud.

either install smbclient to your OS
or ask IONOS for it

btw:

be careful about the compability with php 8.1 - I think it’s better to run php 8.0 with nc24 (r u running nc24?)

Although 8.0 is recommended, 8.1 is offically supported for NC 24: System requirements — Nextcloud latest Administration Manual latest documentation
I’m running 8.1 since last week without a problem :slight_smile:

Thank you for your answers. :100: :bouquet:

@ServerCloud
The question is whether it makes sense at all to access SMB/CIFS across the Internet from a Nextcloud hosted on the Internet (IONOS). It is a SMB/CIFS client of the Nextcloud server and not the clients in the company. Perhaps you should consider whether this makes sense overall. I think the SMB/CIFS Nextcloud client makes more sense with on-prem Nextcloud installations in the same company network.
