I think botbot is awesome and helps make IRC more approachable as it keeps backlog. We used it for #owncloud-calendar and #owncloud-contacts, and also use it for #opensourcedesign.
We just put the notice in the title where the logs are, that is good both to point people to previous discussion and as notice that the channel is logged.
This may make IRC more accessible to those that haven’t used it previously. Everyone likes pretty UIs. I’m in favor.
