Share with eMail wont work if own Mailprovider used

Hello,

I have a managed hosting for nexctcloud with admin access.

I have prefilled email-provider settings that worked.

I want to use my own email provider (like german professionals GMX, mailbxo.org or similar).

All tests I dow after are with the butten “send Testemail”. Everytime I received the testmail. but if I want to share for example a folder with mail I get “Failed to send share by mail” and it will not shared. In the nexcloud logs I found “LocalServerExceptionNo DNS record found for mailbox.org”.

the managed hostingprovider for nextcloud said: “all seems/is correct on our side”

Waht can I do ?

the most infos i am unable to say, because i do not have access to the server etc. it is a managed hosting, I do not host it myself. but I have all Administration tabs/settings in nextcloud-WUI. But I can see Nextcloud Hub 26 Spring (34.0.3).

I tested Firefox, Chrome. I cannot answer more.

The above suggests to me that you’re attempting doing to do an instance-to-instance (Federated) share.

Please use the support template you overlooked, and provide the precise step by step process you’re using the attempt the share.

I configured at least 3 different mailboxes on 3 different providers (and tested the boxes with for example thunderbird etc.). Only the one from the hoster works.

If you share by e-mail, Nextcloud will also ask you, if you want to send an e-mail with the link or if the e-mail address is a user on another server:

When you select “demo on server.example” and not “demo@server.example”, then Nextcloud will not send an e-mail but will try to contact the Nextcloud instance running on server.example to create a federated share.

So maybe you just selected the wrong option after typing the e-mail address? If you want to create a share link and get that send it via e-mail, you must always use the first version in the list with the e-mail address.

i get only “demo on server.example” presented. I get never “demo@server.example”. tried serveral mailadresses..

In this case I would ask the hoster who manages the Nextcloud server.

Share by mail App was deactivated in default rollout from hoster. After activating everything works.
