Share folder from external storage?

Hello,

I have a 18.0.6 nextcloud with an external NAS integrated with sftp via “external storages”.
Unfortunately I had to find out that I cannot share external folders (no share icon is displayed)

Is there any way to integrate an external NAS (in my case Synology) into a nextcloud instance so that sharing among users is possible?

Unfortunately I can’t access an instance I set up for a customer right now but I’m pretty sure you have to enable sharing in the external storage administration for your sftp folder.
I added an SMB external storage to this costumer’s nextdoor and they complained they weren’t able to create share links and after enabling it in external storage administration it had been fixed.

You must allow “Enable sharing” in the external storage settings.
