Hello, I tried to look in the docs for troubleshooting 503, but could not find something useful. I also looked around the forum.

This NC is a physical server at my home. The updates happen on Saturday and I recall a notification of some apps being updated, but not the main NC. So everything should be latest release version. After the last updates the server is not reachable. I can log in via ssh no problem, but it is 503 also on the local network.

What can I do to check what the error might be?

Make sure that the web server is running and that Nextcloud is not in maintenance mode. You can run different checks on the console by using the occ command line tool, e.g. force an update of apps, disabling the maintenance mode, or checking the system.
