Rvm install failled- SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to rubygems.org:443 - Ubuntu 17.1

I’m trying to install rvm and ruby gems and I’m always getting this error.
I’m using ubuntu 17.1

curl: (35) OpenSSL SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to rubygems.org:443
There was an error while trying to resolve rubygems version for ‘latest’.
Halting the installation.

Can anyone help me?

i don’t know sh*t about rubygems or rvm but curl https://rubygems.org should work.
