I am experimenting with NC and I have been trying to find a way to limit sharing to a specific user group(s).
I see in the admin console >sharing that I can exclude groups from creating link shares but unlike the “limit sharing based on groups” I cannot select a group to allow in the “Allow users to share via link and emails”. I assume this is the public sharing feature.
Am I missing something? The goal would be to allow just about everyone to share files with users already setup in NC but only let a small subset to create public shares.
Hey @DrkCorners welcome to the nextcloud community
do you mean something like Administration settings → sharing

@scubamuc That is the setting I was looking at but the problem is I need to have an “include” option, not an “Exclude” list.
I was thinking I could create a group with everyone in it except those that I want to have access but that is not scalable or maintainable.
The option below that about disabling or enabling all share function has the option to only allow certain groups… it is odd that the public sharing does not have the same feature as that is where the critical risk is.
Also, as a suggestion, calling that option “Allow users to share via link and emails” is not a really good description and threw me off for a moment. it really should be “Allow users to share publicly” or something.
I just added the Feature/Featurerequest tag to my post. I guess that is the best I can do for now until this gets fixed.
