Restore backup > space needed to restore

I got this message when trying to restore a backup. Does it mean my disk needs double the space of the backup file because the file needs to be untared (unzipped) before I can use it to restore my nextcloud backup?

And what should I do in my case? Copy the files to another harddrive with more space to be able to restore the data?

If you have stored the tar-file on another disk or backup medium you can directly “tar xvf” from the another disk to the destination disk. Search tar examples in the internet.
