Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

And what does the nextcloud log say when that happens?

If you click the down arrow you will get more information.

Normally yes. In this case nothing happens. In about 5 seconds the page freezes and locks me out. I can get back to the home page.

Thanks for your help in this. The strange thing is that all 6 other NC insrtances are running fine and I can access the Apps page, update and add apps. But this one instance can’t seem to connect to Redis or something.

I am sure it is Pilot error. 1 week ago I upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04 directly. In that process I bumped badly from php8.2 to 8.3. I think in that whole process something broke.

Check php packages from a working instance and match it. Probably something around that.

They are all on the same machine. All in the same html folder. All running the same php. No virtualization or docker or anything.

And apache/php config for that site doesnt show anything different from the others?

Ahhh problem solved. I purged the redis server and redis. Then reinstalled and changed redis.conf to port 0 and unixsocket and permissions. Then restarted redis, apache, and fpm. All is fine again in the world. @SmallOne your replies and care are a tribute to this community. Thanks.

sudo apt purge redis*.*
sudo apt install redis
sudo nano /etc/redis/redis.conf

Then change three things from lines 138 - 156(Alt+Shift+# to show lines numbers in nano)

 138 port 0
 139

 155 unixsocket /run/redis/redis-server.sock
 156 unixsocketperm 770

Don’t forget to restart redis

sudo systemctl restart redis-server

Restarting apache and fpm . . . night be necessary.

I don’t understand, did the other 5 servers work when redis was set to network socket (even though settings pointed to unix socket), or do you run per-instance redis server?

Don’t forget to mark your comment as solution!

Hello @Rinkana . Good comment. the other sites were loading but as I dug deeper it seemed they also had no read write access. The reinstallation of Redis fixed them all. Why the Apps page was broken only on one site was likely something else.
