Recommended migration path from ownCloud 10.1.x?

Hi nextcloud-community

I am searching for a way to migrate a site from ownCloud 10.1.0.4 to Nextcloud. The migration Guide only lists
ownCloud 10.0.- -> Nextcloud 12.0.0
as latest version.
The docs for the manual upgrade lists
ownCloud 10.0.1 or later -> nextCloud 12.0.1 or later
as path. Probably 10.0.1 or later only means 10.0.XX.

I’ve tried the the automatic upgrade as well as the manual upgrade to nextCloud 12. Both fail with different errors. If it helps I can provide details.

Start from scratch while keeping only the data-Path isn’t a good option, since this is a larger installation. Nextcloud runs fine for me on other installations with a clean start.

Any help is appreciated,
Matthias

I’m in the same boat. Can anyone recommend a solution to this problem?

I have the same Problem. All users who have installed owncloud in ubuntu 16.04/18.04 LTS are in the same boat.

I tried this Versions:

  • nextcloud 12.0.13 -> no php7.2.
  • nextcloud 13.0.0 -> Exception: Updates between multiple major versions and downgrades are unsupported. Update failed

Is there a update-Version where ubuntu-stable Users can migrate from owncloud to nextcloud?

Thank you!

Tony

Hello,

I have the same problem. I have Owncloud 10.1.0.4 and wanted to migrate to NextCloud.

I’ve uploaded ‘migrator’ (https://download.nextcloud.com/server/installer/migrator/index.php) and copy it in updater directory.

It told me that I could upgrade to Nextcloud 12.0.x … so I continue … and it failed telling me :
Exception: Updates between multiple major versions and downgrades are unsupported.
Update failed

Any help is welcome :slight_smile:

in the same boat.

I did find https://github.com/nextcloud/server/issues/14549
which seems to indicate a slightly bumpy upgrade path here.

Thank you. This worked for me.

I finally found the time to test your suggested method. It works! :smile:
Thank you, rroseselavy!
