Preview Generation doesn't work on Group Folders

Continuing the discussion from Preview Generator not working on Group Folders:

Hi all,

I came across the linked topic above, because I’m facing exactly the same situation:

  • Preview generation works fine for regular user folders.
  • But previews are not generated for files stored in Group Folders.

The topic linked above was simply closed without any answer. Can someone explain:

:white_check_mark: Why was the original topic closed without a solution or explanation?

:white_check_mark: Is preview generation supported on Group Folders or not?
→ If it’s not supported, why? Any technical limitation?
→ And is there any recommended workaround to generate previews inside Group Folders?

Operating system:
Linux 6.8.0-62-generic #65-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon May 19 17:15:03 UTC 2025 x86_64 (docker)

  1. for you understanding - the topics was old and we close topics with no activity after some time. Especially if the topic is like it is - no support template no logs - who and why should spend time to answer if the poster doesn’t care to ask the question properly?
  2. in my instance there are previews in a group folder so it works in general. and this is where we are back on step one - as long you don’t provide enough information especially configs and logs nobody is able to help you. see support template which you ignored as well.
