Possible to reverse the fusion of contacts and circles?

Hi everybody :wave:t3:

The fusion of contacts and circles keeps confusing our users because they combine two concepts:

  • Contacts have to be created manually
  • Circles are based on accounts which are created automatically

Is it possible to reverse the integration of circles and contacts? I am basically trying to understand how much effort this might be before talking our developers. Maybe somebody has already done this? :relaxed:

What do you mean by reversing the integration? Removing the circles app?

I suppose circles is mainly to flexibly integrate different groups within Nextcloud (so with other user) whereas the contacts are just any contacts (even just with phone numbers).

No, not removing anything. Just separating them so you basically have two separate apps again. One called circles and one called contacts.
