PDF incorrect save behavior

i have a pdf that i cannot save, an old version overwrites it somehow.

steps i take.

delete the pdf
delete the pdf from trashbin
check local files for traces of said pdf
check the pdf i want to upload
upload the pdf
download the pdf
check if it matches what i uploaded.

it does not match what i upload, it matches an old deleted version and i cannot.

nextcloud setup
Docker, auto updated
updated modules.

config of note.
i use the server encryption for all files.

apparently this was a problem with a patch that was released, seems to be fixed, but definitely a cautionary tale and a reason to not update, the idea of updates bricking file versioning is big.
